Naissance de la Fédération Euro-Arménienne pour la justice et la démocratie

Bruxelles, Belgique - Le Conseil d’Administration du « C.D.C.A – Europe » a annoncé qu’à partir de ce jour le nom de l’organisation sera « Fédération Euro - Arménienne pour la Justice et la Démocratie ».

« Nous changeons de nom afin d’exprimer avec plus de justesse la nature et les objectifs de notre action politique» a déclaré Hilda Tchoboian, Présidente de la Fédération. « En effet, notre organisation a évolué, à l’image de la consolidation des institutions européennes, vers un vaste réseau associatif européen agissant dans le sens de la reconnaissance du génocide des Arméniens par le Parlement Européen dès 1987, et par la suite par les parlements nationaux.»

« Notre Fédération agit auprès des instances de l’Union Européenne, à savoir le Parlement européen, la Commission européenne, le Conseil européen, et la Convention européenne ; nous sommes aussi présents à l’ONU, au Conseil de l’Europe et dans les centres européens des organisations internationales » a poursuivi la Présidente de la Fédération Euro - Arménienne.

« Nous faisons nôtre les préoccupations des communautés arméniennes d’Europe. Notre objectif est d’encourager l’engagement civique des Européens d’ascendance arménienne et de s’assurer que leurs aspirations soient légitimement reflétées dans le cours de l’évolution politique et institutionnelle de la nouvelle Europe ».

L’objet de la Fédération couvre la promotion des droits du peuple arménien, en Arménie et en Diaspora. Ces droits collectifs et individuels relèvent des principes universels des Droits de l’Homme couvrant notamment des droits civils et politiques, ainsi que des droits économiques, sociaux et culturels.

En regroupant en son sein différentes associations et organisations nationales d’Europe, dont tous les CDCAs et les Comités Nationaux Arméniens, qui agissent en partageant les mêmes valeurs, la Fédération devient leur porte - parole auprès des instances et organisations européennes ainsi qu’auprès des représentations en Europe des instances internationales.

« Fidèle à notre fonction fédératrice, nous créerons aussi des coalitions avec des organisations, institutions ou des représentants de la société civile européenne qui expriment le désir de soutenir des opérations engagées par la Fédération. »

« Nous voulons promouvoir les valeurs européennes de Justice et de Démocratie en Arménie et au Caucase, et renforcer les liens entre l’Arménie et les institutions européennes dans la perspective de l’intégration progressive de l’Arménie à l’Europe » a conclu la présidente de la Fédération euro – arménienne.

New Organisation to build on efforts of ANC Europe

Brussells, Belgium – The Armenian National Committee of Europe (ANC Europe) Board of Directors announced today that the organization will, henceforth, be known as the “European Armenian Federation for Justice and Democracy” (European Armenian Federation).

“We have adopted the new name to more accurately reflect the nature and objectives of our political efforts,” said Hilda Tchoboian, president of the European Armenian Federation. “As European institutions evolved and grew stronger over the years, our organization expanded, as well, to become a Europe-wide network of activists, working as early as 1987 for the proper recognition of the Armenian Genocide by the European Parliament, and later by the National Parliaments”.

The Federation will continue to advocate issues within key European Union institutions, including the European Parliament, the European Commission, the European Council and the European Convention. The Federation will also work with the UN, the Council of Europe and the European branches of international organizations.

“We share the concerns of the European Armenian community,” noted Tchoboian. “We will work hand-in-hand with Europeans of Armenian descent to promote civic participation and to ensure that their aspirations are properly reflected in all levels of European politics and institutions.”

The Federation will work to promote the rights of the Armenian people, both in Armenia and in the Diaspora. It will particularly focus on promoting the civil and political rights as well as economic, social and cultural rights of Armenians worldwide, as defined by the universal principles of human rights.

Serving as an umbrella group for a number of national associations and organizations -- including the local chapters of the Armenian National Committee which share common goals and values -- the Federation will be a compelling voice in efforts dealing with European and international institutions. “We look forward to building coalitions with organizations, institutions or representatives of civil society who espouse the same goals as the Federation,” stressed Tchoboian.

The European Armenian Federation president concluded, noting that “We are committed to promoting the European values of justice and democracy in Armenia and in the Caucasus in general,” stated Tchoboian. We look forward to strengthening ties between Armenia and European institutions, as Armenia continues its efforts to integrate in the European family of nations.”
